Xiaowen Wang studied Production Design at AFI conservatory in Los Angeles. She also graduated from Parsons in Fashion Design, graduated from FIT in jewelry design, and spent five years in New York gaining more experience in costume and theater design, storyboard and background painting. Before coming to the United States, she joined a famous Chinese studio to learn cartoon-making, set design and media design. Her studio experience refined her skills in production design, costume and character design, lighting design, storyboard drawing, and animation for Chinese film and television programs. She is also a member of the Art Directors Guild.

For the past few years. Ms. Wang has been directing for film and TV. Her independent short films have already got the international recognition including Filmfest MÜNCHEN, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Chicago International Children’s Film Festival and New York International Children’s Film Festival ,the Palm Springs International ShortFest, Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival, Outfest Los Angeles LGBT Film Festival, Out on film Atalanta LGBTQ Film festival, Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival and OutSouth Queer Film Festival, and so on.

Cocoon Love - Synopsis:A teenager is sent back to stay with her grandparents in her hometown village. As she begins a budding friendship with a classmate, she is forced to confront her past and imagine a much different future.

A little girl returns to her hometown in Tibet, where a team of doctors treat the medical condition she has had since birth. Recuperating at her grandfather's house, she makes a new and special friend. Since it is a story about a little disable kid and dog, it is a silent film as the UCLA thesis.
